Establishing Beneficial Ownership in terms of section 21B of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) has often bewildered accountable institutions. In this webinar, we will delve into this relevant and timely topic that is currently top-of-mind in the anti-money-laundering space.
The focus of this webinar will be the recently released Public Compliance Communication (PCC) 59, which pertains to Beneficial Ownership. The presenters, Billy Seyffert and Kayleen Edwards, will address the importance of identifying the natural person who owns or controls clients that are legal persons, trusts, and partnerships and how this impacts your business operationally. We will embark on the journey from Draft PCC 121A to the final PCC 59, where we will discuss the feedback received from the Financial Intelligence Centre (the Centre) during this process, as well as their formal position on their expectations of compliance.
Attendees can expect to receive practical examples of simple and complex ownership and control structures to illustrate the Centre’s expectations. The presenters will highlight the actions to be taken by accountable institution stemming from PCC 59 to manage their risks in terms of section 21B of FICA and will touch on other relevant industry updates.
Accountable institutions, their employees and FICA compliance officers, and any person involved in the onboarding of new clients will benefit from attending this webinar.
